Why is this needed?

We’re bringing people together from all across the country, from all walks of life – teachers and students, parents and children, doctors and nurses, electricians, plumbers, graphic designers and software engineers and thousands of others – to create a health care system that is for people, not for profit, that serves all Americans, in every neighborhood and community.

Healthcare in the US is a big expensive mess.  It generates huge incomes and profits for some people – but it isn’t easy to use, often doesn’t fix our health problems, takes too much time, costs too much money and is impersonal and bureaucratic.  That means some people don’t go to the doctor, even when they’re not feeling well, which isn’t good for their health. And too many people who do go aren’t treated well.

Other advanced countries, like England, Germany, France, Finland, Costa Rica, and South Korea have much better health care than we have.  They pay less than half of what we pay for their health care, and they have longer lives and healthier children.

But all the people who make big money from healthcare want to keep making that money, and they pay hundreds of millions of dollars every year to corporate lobbyists and politicians to keep things the way they are.  So nothing changes.

We’ve built Primary Care For All Americans to change all that.  Join us!

How long will it take?

It will take at least a year to develop 50,000 to 100,000 supporters, and three to five years to  develop the infrastructure to provide primary care for  all in twenty-five communities. It will take five to ten  years to scale up medical school training so the US is  training enough primary care physicians to care for all  Americans.

How can you help?

First and foremost, you can help by joining one of our  organized Zooms, and by bringing one other person  to each Zoom. Then, you can help by becoming  involved in your own community, helping choose a  way to provide primary care to all your neighbors, and working with others in your community to make that happen.

What will it cost?

Our organizing work will cost $100,000 in the first year, and $3 to 5 million in the first three years, assuming twenty-five to fifty communities begin actively working on providing primary care to all. In turn we’ll provide technical support to five to  ten individuals as they consider running for governor  on a Primary Care for All Americans platform.

We also hope to educate candidates for governor in five or more states on the importance of providing primary care for all.  We’ll meet with individuals seeking to run for elective office, regardless of party affiliation, providing each with nonpartisan, data-driven information to advance our mission of bringing basic medical care to all Americans.
